Osteoarthritis (OA)

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common conditions of joints. It occurs when the cartilage between two bones breaks down and the exposed ends rub against each other. This causes swelling, stiffness, and pain. Osteoarthritis can be caused by tough sports, obesity, injury, and overuse.

2. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of the joints and tissues around them. RA is most common in middle age but can occur at any age and manifests with morning stiffness, usually lasting an hour or more, and pain and swelling in the hands, feet, and wrists.

3. Bursitis

Bursitis occurs when the bursa becomes inflamed. The bursa is a fluid-filled sac that cushions the bones, tendons, and muscles near joints. The most common areas of bursitis are the shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.

4. Gout

Gout is a common cause of arthritis and causes severe pain in the joints. Usually the toes and other joints of the foot or ankle. Excessive accumulation and deposition of uric acid cause pain and inflammation in the affected joints. The first symptom of gout is usually a sudden, painful swelling, often accompanied by redness at night.

5. Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease. This makes bones brittle and more likely to break or fracture over time. Shortening of height and a slouched posture are common signs of osteoporosis. Treatment includes drugs, a healthy diet, and exercise to prevent bone loss or strengthen already weak bones.

6. Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS)

Patella femoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is a condition of the patella characterized by rough or soft patches on the cartilage surface. It was formerly called chondromalacia patella, runner’s knee, and dashboard knee. It causes pain, yielding, stiffness, tightness, and twitching sensations. Climbing stairs is a bit difficult and sitting with bent knees or squatting is very uncomfortable.

Small amounts of anti-inflammatory drugs can often reduce swelling, stiffness, and pain. Other treatments include injections, ice, rest, and physical therapy. Taping and braces to stabilize the patella are also helpful.

7. Tendonitis

Deep in the shoulder is a group of tendons and muscles called the rotator cuff. They stabilize the humerus in the shoulder joint and help rotate the arm. The biceps tendon is also positioned in the front area of the shoulder.

Repeatedly raising your arm over your head rubs and inflames the tendons on the underside of your shoulder bone. The tendon swells and there is even less space between the tendon and the bone. Stimulation creates more stimulation. It’s like a rope being pulled over a craggy rock over and over again.

8. Irritated rotator cuff

Excessive wear on the rotator cuff can cause severe irritation, roughness and ultimately tearing of the cuff. Irritation from the rotator cuff is felt as a clicking or popping sound in the shoulder as the worn portion of the cuff slides under the shoulder bone, and as weakness in the arm. Although less common injuries and infections can lead to arthritis. Arthritis of the shoulder causes the joint to become rough due to worn cartilage and loss of bone fragments.

For quality treatment of your joint pain condition make a visit to Texas Specialty Clinics, call us now.

1.
